A VISIT TO THE DENTIST

BACK TO CERAMIC WONDERS MORE MEDICAL CERAMICS RETURN TO INDEX

This ceramic sculpture represents Bailey's unpleasant memories of childhood visits to the dentist.

The dental patient has clenched hands and toes, and an arched back not unlike the artist's posture while seated in the dentist's chair. The meat tenderizer tool softens the gums so that the teeth can be easily extracted by the nurse.

An archaic green dental tool stands nearby. Its drills and grinders look painfully large and coarse.

The area is lighted by a Photon Generator that illuminates the scene by bombarding it with photons from the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.
