Dr. Gladstone's Snake Oil Bottle- 1996
( A ceramic bottle by Clayton Bailey )

Porcelain with "tobacco spit" glaze, raised lettering, realistic porcelain cork

6" X 5" X 24" ht.

Snake oil is found in many consumer products, and is the main ingredient in advertising materials.

Snake oil is seldom found in its pure, unadulterated form, but now it's available freshly made from the Bull Valley Pottery Company in Port Costa, CA. This half gallon porcelain jug with an unremovable porcelain cork stands 24" tall with raised lettering on front and back. It rattles mysteriously when it is shaken, and it sports a traditional "tobacco spit" glaze.

Rub some snake oil on your head once in awhile to sharpen your wits; or rub it on your leg when you notice that it is being pulled.

Dr. Gladstone's Snake Oil is manufactured under carefully controled conditions, and by a secret laboratory process.

No living snakes are used in the creation of Dr. Gladstone's Snake Oil Bottles.
